Facial Recognition is a new and developing technology whose technical aspects
and limitations are not fully understood by the general public and whose future
implications for widespread public use are not yet known. This paper explains a concise
technical overview of the technology, a brief look into its limitations and real-world
implementations, and reports on the currently passed and pending legislation for facial
recognition in the United States, both at the federal and state level.
