Dear Faculty, Students, and Staff:
To enhance University security, beginning this
Friday, September 2nd, all Villanova Zoom users will be required to upgrade their Zoom software to the latest version before being able to join their next Zoom meeting.
We are making this change in order to address
critical security vulnerabilities present in older versions of Zoom. If a malicious Zoom meeting link is opened, it may leave users open to additional attacks.
Please open Zoom and update your software prior to any meetings you may have scheduled to eliminate any potential meeting disruptions or delays.
To ensure you are running the latest version of Zoom on your device,
open the Zoom desktop app, click your profile picture and select “Check for Updates.” If a newer version is available, Zoom will prompt you to download and install the update. You can also manually download the latest version by visiting the
Zoom Download Center and clicking “Download” under Zoom Desktop Client. As a reminder,
you can also
join Zoom meetings via web browser if you are experiencing issues with your Zoom software.
As always, we recommend you regularly download and update any software you have on your computer, such as Google Chrome, Safari, IOS Updates, Zoom, etc., to ensure you are running the most secure,
up-to-date versions on all your devices.
For any additional questions, please contact the UNIT Help Desk at
support@villanova.edu.
Thank you,
Office of Information Security
