Summary and Conclusions

In this paper we have presented a new approach to MLSE over unknown ISI channels. We employ the EM algorithmic approach to marginalize over the channel parameters, given a prior distribution and linear constraints on the channel. Algorithms are developed for a variety of time-invariant and fast time-varying channels. Simulation results illustrate the advantage of this approach, relative to joint sequence/channel estimation.
